The Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023

Coming into operation: 15th October 2023

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs[^f00001] in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 19(1) and 124(1), (2) and (2A) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966[^f00002], makes the following Regulations.

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023 and come into operation on 15th October 2023.

Amendment of the Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022

• (1) The Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022[^f00003] are amended as follows.

• (2) In Schedule 8 (The Maidens Special Area of Conservation) in the table (Area 3)—

• (a) in the longitude coordinate at Point B for “005° 42.010’W” substitute “005° 45.010’W”;

• (b) in the longitude coordinate at Point C for “005° 43.250’W” substitute “005° 42.250’W”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations make minor corrections to two coordinates which provide for the Maidens Special Area of Conservation in Schedule 8 to the Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022.
