The Northern Ireland Court of Judicature Rules Committee[^f00001] makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 55 and 55A of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978[^f00002].

Citation, commencement and application

These Rules shall be cited as the Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) 2024 and shall come into operation on 2nd December 2024.

Amendments to the Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) 1980

The Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) 1980 are amended as follows—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Rules)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Rules amend the Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) 1980 (S.R. 1980 No. 346) to provide that an application to the Court of Appeal for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court in a civil case shall be made within 28 days of the decision or order in respect of which leave is sought.
