Section 236 of the Localism Act 2011 confers a power on the appropriate authority to make provision amending, repealing or revoking legislation as the appropriate authority considers appropriate in consequence of any provision made by or under that Act. Section 236(2) defines “appropriate authority” and for the purposes of these Regulations the appropriate authority means the Secretary of State. Section 236(3) defines “legislation” to include any instrument made under that or any other Act.
