Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The National Curriculum for Wales for physical education will be revised from 1st August 2000. This Order gives legal effect to the new programmes of study, which set out what pupils should be taught, and attainment targets for them. Details of these are set out in a document called “Physical Education in the National Curriculum” which is available from the Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales.

This Order also sets out arrangements for phasing in the new National Curriculum.

The Order replaces the Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Physical Education) (Wales) Order 1998.
