Made: 24th February 1993

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(2) of the Registered Homes (Northern Ireland) Order 1992[^f00001], paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974[^f00002] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:

Citation and interpretation

(1) This order may be cited as the Registered Homes (1992 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 1993.

(2) In this order “the Order” means the Registered Homes (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.

Appointed day

1st April 1993 is the day appointed for the coming into operation of the Order except for those provisions specified in Article 1(3) of the Order.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This order brings into operation on 1st April 1993 all the provisions of the Registered Homes (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 (the 1992 Order) except those specified in Article 1(3) of the 1992 Order.

The provisions of the 1992 Order brought into operation on 1st April 1993 by this order provide for the registration, and regulate the conduct, of residential care homes and nursing homes in the private and voluntary sectors.

The remaining provisions of the 1992 Order were brought into operation by Article 1(3) of that Order on 17th February 1993.
