Police (Amendment) (1995 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996
Made: 23rd July 1996
In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 1(2) and 1(3) of the Police (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1995[^f00001], (“the 1995 Order”) I hereby make the following Order:—
Citation

This Order may be cited as the Police (Amendment) (1995 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.
Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into operation of Part II of the 1995 Order shall be 29th July 1996.
Transitional provisions

- (1) Article 3 of the 1995 Order shall apply to persons taken to a police station from a custodial establishment in pursuance of a direction under section 16 of the Prison Act (Northern Ireland) 1953[^f00002], notwithstanding that the direction was made before the appointed day.
- (2) Article 4 of the 1995 Order shall apply notwithstanding that the person was unlawfully at large before the appointed day.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order appoints 29th July 1996 as the day on which Part II of the Police (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 will come into operation, subject to the transitional provisions in Article 3 of the Order.
