Temporary Speed Limit (Sydenham By-Pass, Route A2, Belfast) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996

Coming into operation: 10th October 1996

NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 51(4) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[^f00002] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Temporary Speed Limit (Sydenham By-Pass, Route A2, Belfast) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 10th October 1996.

Continuance in force of provisions of S.R. 1996 No. 178

The provisions of Article 2 of the Temporary Speed Limit (Sydenham By-Pass, Route A2, Belfast) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 are hereby continued in force for a period of 4 months from 9th October 1996.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order continues in force the provisions of the Temporary Speed Limit (Sydenham By-Pass, Route A2, Belfast) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 (S.R. 1996 No. 178). It prohibits in the interests of safety for a further period of 4 months commencing on 10th October 1996 the driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour on the eastbound carriageway of Sydenham By-Pass, Route A2, Belfast, from its junction with Middlepath Street to its junction with Dee Street, and on the westbound carriageway of Sydenham By-Pass, Route A2, Belfast, from its junction with Dee Street, to a point approximately 240 metres west of that junction.

Any person who acts in contravention of the Order shall be guilty of an offence under the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000).

Traffic signs indicating the effect of the Order have been erected on the road.
