Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996

To be laid before Parliament under paragraph 3(3) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974

Coming into operation: 23rd September 1996

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(5) of the Lands Tribunal and Compensation Act (Northern Ireland) 1964[^f00001] and section 18 of the Administrative and Financial Provisions Act (Northern Ireland) 1962[^f00002] and now vested in me[^f00003] and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following Order:

Title and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 23rd September 1996.

Revocation

The Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 1995[^f00004] is hereby revoked.

Increases in salaries

• (1) Subject to paragraph (2), the annual salary payable to the President of the Lands Tribunal shall be increased as follows—

• (a) from £85,241 to £88,266 from 1st April 1996;

• (b) from £88,266 to £89,123 from 1st December 1996.

• (2) The annual salary payable to a President of the Lands Tribunal appointed after this Order comes into operation shall be £79,978 and will be increased to £80,716 from 1st December 1996.

• (3) The annual salary payable to any other member of the Lands Tribunal shall be increased as follows—

• (a) from £72,524 to £75,978 from 1st April 1996;

• (b) from £75,978 to £76,716 from 1st December 1996.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides for changes in the annual salaries payable to members of the Lands Tribunal for Northern Ireland following recommendations made in the Report of the Review Body on Senior Salaries in 1996 (HMSO CM 3094).

It increases, with retrospective effect from 1st April 1996 and from 1st December 1996 under Section 18 of the Administrative and Financial Provisions Act (Northern Ireland) 1962, the annual salary of the President of the Lands Tribunal and all other members of the Tribunal.

It changes, with effect from the coming into operation of the Order, the salary payable to a President appointed after the Order comes into operation.

Article 2 revokes the Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 1995.
