Coming into operation: 10th October 1996

Whereas it appears to the Department of Agriculture, (“the Department”) that the modification of the provisions of Schedule 2 to the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[^f00001] (“the 1981 Order”) set out in Article 2 is necessary or expedient for the purposes of that Order, the Department in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 16(2) of the 1981 Order and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (Modification) (No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 10th October 1996.

Modification of the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981

Schedule 2 to the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 shall be modified as follows:

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order modifies Schedule 2 to the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (power to slaughter animals and pay compensation) by deleting the references to Johne’s Disease in Parts I and II of that Schedule.

The modifications remove from the Department of Agriculture its powers of slaughter and payment of compensation in relation to Johne’s disease.
