Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) (Amendment No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

Made: 7th April 1997

Coming into operation in accordance with Article 1

The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 7(1)(b), (2)(a)(ii) and (6) of the Education Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 1989[^f00001] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) (Amendment No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and, subject to paragraph (2), shall come into operation on 30th April 1997.

• (2) This Order shall not take effect until 1st August 1997 insofar as it applies to pupils who are in an Irish Speaking School.

In the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996[^f00002] in Article 3 (Interpretation) for the definition of “the Assessment Document” there shall be substituted—

• “the Assessment Document” means the document published by Her Majesty’s Stationery Office entitled “Assessment Arrangements” in Key Stage 3 (Revised)[^f00003] as amended by the document published by Her Majesty’s Stationery Office entitled “Arrangements for End of Key Stage 3 Tests” in 1997[^f00004];

In Article 2 of the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997[^f00005] for the word “regulations” there shall be substituted “Articles”.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order further amends the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.

The Order amends the definition of “the Assessment Document” to take account of amendments to that document set out in a document entitled “Arrangements for End of Key Stage 3 Tests in 1997” published by The Stationery Office, 16 Arthur Street, Belfast, BT1 4GD.
