Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

Made: 14th August 1997

Coming into operation: 1st October 1997

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the power conferred on it by Article 59(a) of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996[^f00001], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and after consultation with such representative organisations as it thinks fit in accordance with Article 91(1) of that Order, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and application

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1997.

• (2) This Order applies in relation to a fixed penalty offence alleged to have been committed on or after 1st October 1997.

Amount of fixed penalty

The fixed penalty for an offence shown in column (1) of the Schedule to this Order shall be the amount shown opposite thereto in column (2).

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order prescribes fixed penalties for fixed penalty offences. The penalty for offences involving obligatory endorsement is £40. For other fixed penalty offences which do not involve obligatory endorsement the penalty is £20.

The Order comes into operation on 1st October 1997 and applies only to offences committed on or after that date.
