Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feeding Stuffs) (National Limits) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999

Coming into operation: 25th August 1999

The Department of Agriculture in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 16(2)(k) and (l), (15) and 24(3) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985[^f00001] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, after consultation with the Advisory Committee on Pesticides for Northern Ireland, established under section 16(7) of that Act[^f00002], hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

• (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feeding Stuffs) (National Limits) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999, and shall come into operation on 25th August 1999.

• (2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954[^f00003] shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

• (3) In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations” means the Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feeding Stuffs) (National Limits) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995[^f00004].

Amendment of the principal Regulations

In Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations, the references to the pesticide Chlorpyrifos-methyl in column 1 and to the residue chlorpyrifos-methyl in column 2 shall be deleted.

In Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations, all of the references to the maximum levels of the pesticides listed in column 1 of Schedule 1 to these Regulations per kilogramme of the individual products or group of products specified opposite each such pesticide in column 2 of that Schedule, shall be deleted.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations further amend the Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feeding Stuffs) (National Limits) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 by removing certain maximum levels of pesticide residues which were included in Schedule 2. These limits are now included in Schedule 2 to the Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feeding Stuffs) (EEC Limits) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 as amended by the Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feeding Stuffs) (EEC Limits) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999.
