The Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (Extension of Group A Offences) Order 2000

Coming into operation: 1st August 2000
In exercise of the power conferred upon him by Article 38(4) of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 1996[^f00001] (“the 1996 Order”), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, Operation and Effect

This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (Extension of Group A Offences) Order 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2000.

To Article 38(2)(c) of the 1996 Order (offences under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981[^f00002] shall be added:
- section 14 (offences of counterfeiting notes and coins);
- section 15 (offences of passing etc counterfeit notes and coins);
- section 16 (offences involving the custody or control of counterfeit notes and coins);
- section 17 (offences involving or making or custody or control of counterfeiting materials and implements);
- section 20 (prohibition of importation of counterfeit notes and coins);
- section 21 (prohibition of exportation of counterfeit notes and coins);.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order amends Article 38(2)(c) of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 by extending the Group A offences to which Part III of the Criminal (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 applies so as to include various offences contained in Part II of the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981. Part III of the 1996 Order makes provision about the jurisdiction of courts in Northern Ireland in relation to certain offences of dishonesty and blackmail set out in Article 38 of that Order.
