Coming into operation: 6th November 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 74 and 75 of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998[^f00001], I hereby make the following Order:—

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000.

Interpretation

In this Order—

Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into operation of Part VII of the 1998 Act shall be 6th November 2000 (in this Order referred to as “the commencement date”).

Transitional arrangement

Any regulations made under section 25, 26, 59(8) and 64 of the 1998 Act shall apply to any complaint recorded under the former complaint provision and not disposed of before the commencement date.

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order commences Part VII of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 which relates to the establishment of a Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland.
