EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints 23rd March 2007 for the coming into operation of certain minor amendments and repeals which are consequential on the commencement, on 26th January 2007, of Article 21 of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 2006. Article 21 empowers the Boards of Governors of grant-aided schools to enter into arrangements with other grant-aided schools, institutions of further education and any other person or body approved by the Department of Education to secure the provision of secondary education on behalf of the school. The amendments and repeals make clear the responsibilities of Boards of Governors and principals for pupils for whom secondary education is provided at another institution.
