The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety makes the following Regulations, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 4(11), 5(4) and 16(1) of the Sunbeds Act (Northern Ireland) 2011[^f00001].

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations make provision under the Sunbeds Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 (“the Act”) in relation to the health and other information which must be provided to persons buying, hiring or proposing to use a sunbed.

Regulation2 prescribes the content of the health and other information which must be provided in terms of Article4 of the Act by a sunbed operator, seller or hirer of sunbeds, to a person who proposes to use, hire or buy a sunbed and the form in which that information must be provided.

Regulation3 prescribes the content and form of the notice to be displayed in sunbed premises in accordance with section5 of the Act.

These regulations were notified in draft to the European Commission in accordance with Directive 98/34/EC, as amended by Directive 98/48/EC.
