The Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2013
Made: 1st May 2013
The Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(2) of the Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1999[^f00001], makes the following Order:
Citation and Interpretation

- (1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2013.
- (2) In this Order, “the 1999 Order” means the Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1999.
Appointed Day

10th May 2013 is the day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 17 of the 1999 Order in so far as it relates to proceedings in the Crown Court and committal proceedings in the magistrates’ courts in relation to an offence which -
- (a) is alleged to have occurred in the local government district of Belfast; and
- (b) is triable only on indictment.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings into operation provisions of the Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (N.I. 8) (“the 1999 Order”).
The provisions of the Order set out in Article 2 come into operation on 10th May 2013.
Article 17 relates to the examination of the witness through an intermediary and these provisions are commenced in so far as it relates to proceedings in Crown Court and committal proceedings in the magistrates’ courts in relation to an offence which –
- (a) is alleged to have occurred in the local government district of Belfast; and
- (b) is triable only on indictment.
