The Education (1998 Order) (Commencement No.8) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016

The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(3) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998[^f00001], makes the following Order:

Citation

This Order may be cited as the Education (1998 Order) (Commencement No.8) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016.

Appointed Day

The following provisions of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 shall come into operation on 1st April 2016, that is to say—

• (a) Articles 61 to 64;

• (b) Schedule 6 Part II in so far as it relates to the repeal of Articles 60, 61, 65(2), 77 & 78 of the Education Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 1989[^f00002]

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation the Articles of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 which provide for financing by the Education Authority of voluntary grammar and grant-maintained integrated schools; and the repeal of the Articles of the Education Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 1989 which provide for the financing by the Department of Education of voluntary grammar and grant-maintained integrated schools.
