The Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 182(5) and (6) of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009[^f00001], makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Commencement No.2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2016.
Appointed day
2
29th February 2016 is the appointed day for the coming into force of section 49(2) of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings into force section 49(2) of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (c.25) which introduces Schedule 11 of the Act. Schedule 11 substitutes new sections 17A to 17C for section 17 of the Coroners Act (Northern Ireland) 1959 (c.15) (N.I.). Sections 17A to 17C make provision concerning witnesses, evidence and related offences at inquests in Northern Ireland.
