Coming into operation: 11th October 2016

The Department of Finance makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1(1) and 2(a), 3(1) and (3) and 25(3) of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Pensions (Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on 11th October 2016 and shall have effect from 1st April 2016.

Interpretation

In these Regulations “the scheme” means the scheme established under The Public Service (Civil Servants and Others) Pensions Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014[^f00002].

Extension of scheme

(1) The following persons are specified as persons to whom the scheme may potentially relate.

(2) These are—

(a) persons employed by the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman[^f00003].

Revocation

The Public Service Pensions (Assembly Ombudsman for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Complaints) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015[^f00004] is hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations specify persons employed by the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman as persons to whom the scheme, established under The Public Service (Civil Servants and Others) Pension Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014, may potentially relate, in accordance with section 25(3) of the Public Service Pensions (Northern Ireland) Act 2014.It has retrospective effect from 1st April 2016 by virtue of section 3(3)(b) of the 2014 Act.

Regulation 4 of these Regulations revokes the Public Service Pensions (Assembly Ombudsman for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Complaints) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015.
