The Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022

Coming into operation: 1st January 2023
The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs[^f00001] makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 19(1) and 124(1), (2) and (2A) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966[^f00002].
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2023.
Amendment of the Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022

- (1) The Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022[^f00003] are amended as follows.
- (2) In regulation 3(1)(g) delete “restricted area”.
- (3) In regulation 4(3) after “10” insert “metres”.
- (4) In Schedule 5 (Red Bay Special Area of Conservation)—
- (a) In the longitude coordinate at Point A for “5° 36.670’W” substitute “006° 01.492’W”.
- (b) In the longitude coordinate at Point B for “5° 34.734’W” substitute “006° 00.516’W”.
- (c) In the latitude coordinate at Point C for “55° 08.450’N” substitute “55° 05.450’N”.
- (d) In the longitude coordinate at Point C for “5° 34.733’W” substitute “006° 00.516’W”.
- (e) In the longitude coordinate at Point D for “5° 35.203’W” substitute “006° 02.816’W”.
- (5) In Schedule 6 (Skerries and Causeway Special Area of Conservation)—
- (a) In the latitude coordinate at Point C for “55° 11.540’N” substitute “55° 13.540’N”.
- (b) In the longitude coordinate at Point E for “006° 36.920’W” substitute “006° 26.920’W”.
- (6) In Schedule 8 for “Area 2” where it first appears substitute “Area 1”.
- (7) In Schedule 9 in the Schedule head for “Strangford Lough” substitute “Waterfoot”.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations amend the Marine Protected Areas (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 (the Principal Regulations) to provide for minor corrections.
These corrections include the correction of the name of Strangford Lough Marine Conservation Zone in regulation 3(1)(g), the insertion of the word metres at regulation 4(3), the substitution of a number of correct latitude and longitude coordinates in Schedule 5 (Red Bay Special Area of Conservation) and Schedule 6 (Skerries and Causeway Special Area of Conservation) respectively, and the amendment of the heading at Schedule 9 so that it refers to the Waterfoot Marine Conservation Zone.
