The Executive Office, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 10(2) of the Period Products (Free Provision) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022[^f00001] makes the following Order.

Citation

This Order may be cited as the Period Products (Free Provision) (2022 Act) (Commencement No.2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2024.

Appointed Day

The day appointed for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Period Products (Free Provision) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 is 15 April 2024—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints 15 April 2024 as the day for the coming into operation of the following sections of the Period Products (Free Provision) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 (the Act).

Section 5 places a duty on departments to publish and maintain guidance for specified public service bodies on the exercise of functions conferred on them by sections 2 and 6 of the Act; and to consult with specified public service bodies in respect of the guidance prior to doing so. Specified public service bodies to whom the guidance is issued must have regard to it as it relates to that body.

Section 6 places a duty on specified public service bodies to prepare a written statement in respect of arrangements for the provision of free period products; and to consult with its product users prior to doing so.
