The Equality Act 2010 (Specification of Public Authorities) (Scotland) Order 2012

Coming into force: 5th March 2012
In accordance with section210(2) of that Act a draft of this instrument has been laid before and approved by resolution of the Scottish Parliament.
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Equality Act 2010 (Specification of Public Authorities) (Scotland) Order2012 and comes into force on 5th March 2012.
Amendment of Schedule19 to the Equality Act 2010

InPart 3 of Schedule 19 to the Equality Act 2010 (public authorities: relevant Scottish authorities)[^f00002] after the entry “The Water Industry Commission for Scotland” insert—
- Children’s Hearings Scotland.
- The National Convener of Children’s Hearings Scotland.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order amends the list of public authorities in Part3 of Schedule19 to the Equality Act 2010 by adding Children’s Hearings Scotland and the National Convener of Children’s Hearings Scotland to that list. The public authorities listed in Part 3 are subject to the public sector equality duty in section149 of that Act.
The public sector equality duty is to have regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited under the Act, to advance equality of opportunity and to foster good relations between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it.
