The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 145(2) of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2016 and comes into force on 20th December 2016.

Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 is 20th December 2016—

(a) paragraphs 5(b) and (c), 6, 7 and 9 to 12 of schedule 4 (minor and consequential amendments) and section 144(1) (minor and consequential amendments and repeals) in so far as it relates to those paragraphs; and

(b) section 144(2) (minor and consequential amendments and repeals) and schedule 5 (repeals) in so far as they relate to the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints 20th December 2016 for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 (“the Act”)—

section 144(1), and paragraphs 5(b) and (c), 6, 7 and 9 to 12 of schedule 4, and

section 144(2) and schedule 5 in so far as it relates to the repeal of Part 2 and section 57(2)(b) of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003.

Those provisions make amendments and repeals consequential to the commencement of Part 2 of the Act (community planning) on that date.

The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 24th July 2015. Sections 141 to 143, 145 and 146 came into force the following day.
