The Equality Act 2010 (Commencement No. 13) (Scotland) Order 2017

Made: 21st November 2017

Coming into force: 1st April 2018

The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 207(4)(b) and 216(4) of the Equality Act 2010[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Equality Act 2010 (Commencement No. 13) (Scotland) Order 2017 and comes into force on 1st April 2018.

Commencement of Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010

• (1) The following provisions of Part 1 (socio-economic inequalities) of the Equality Act 2010[^f00002] come into force on 1st April 2018—

• (a) in section 1 (public sector duty regarding socio-economic inequalities), subsections (1) to (3) and (6);

• (b) section 2 (power to amend section 1), so far as it confers a power on the Scottish Ministers; and

• (c) section 3 (enforcement).

• (2) For the avoidance of doubt, section 1(3) is commenced as originally enacted.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order commences provisions in Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, which imposes duties on specified authorities in relation to socio-economic inequalities, on 1st April 2018. The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 8th April 2010. Section 186(2) and Part 16 (except sections 202, 206 and 211) came into force on the day on which the Act was passed.
