The Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2025

The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 38(2) and (3) of the Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024[^f00001].
Citation, commencement and interpretation

- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2025 and come into force on 16 June 2025.
- (2) In these Regulations “the Act” means the Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024.
Appointed Day

- (1) 16 June 2025 is the day appointed for the coming into force of sections 1 to 34 of the Act and schedules 1 and 2 of the Act.
- (2) Schedule 2 of the Act comes into force in accordance with paragraph (1), with the exception of the repeals specified in the table in the schedule of these Regulations.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
Explanatory Note
These Regulations bring into force on 16 June 2025 the substantive provisions of the Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024 (“the 2024 Act”) so far as not already in force.
Schedule 2 of the 2024 Act is commenced partially in that the following repeals or revocations remain to be brought into force:
- (a) sections 4 and 6 of the Small Landholders (Scotland) Act 1911,
- (b) sections 1, 3 and 4 of the Farm Land and Rural Development Act 1988.
The Bill for the 2024 Act received Royal Assent on 30 July 2024. By virtue of section 38(1) of the 2024 Act, sections 35 to 39 came into force on the day after Royal Assent.
