The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 8(2) of the Prisoners (Early Release) (Scotland) Act 2025[^f00001].
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Prisoners (Early Release) (Scotland) Act 2025 (Commencement) Regulations 2025 and come into force on 11 February 2025.
Appointed day
2
11 February 2025 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the Prisoners (Early Release) (Scotland) Act 2025, so far as not already in force.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations bring into force on 11 February 2025 all of the provisions of the Prisoners (Early Release) (Scotland) Act 2025 (“the 2025 Act”), so far as not already in force.
The Bill for the 2025 Act received Royal Assent on 22 January 2025. By virtue of section 8(1) of the 2025 Act, that section, together with section 7 (ancillary provision) and section 9 (short title) came into force on the day after Royal Assent.
