The Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2025

The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 27(2) of the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024[^f00001].
Citation, commencement, and interpretation

- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2025 and come into force on 1 August 2025.
- (2) In these Regulations, “the Act” means the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024.
Appointed day

- (1) 1 August 2025 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Act specified in column 1 of the table in the schedule (the subject matter of which is described in column 2 of that table).
- (2) Where a purpose is specified in column 3 of the table in the schedule in relation to any provision specified in column 1 of the table in the schedule, that provision comes into force on 1 August 2025 only for that purpose.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
Explanatory Note
These Regulations bring provisions of the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024 (“the Act”) into force.
Regulation 2(1) brings the provisions listed in the schedule into force on 1 August 2025. Regulation 2(2) provides that where a purpose is specified in the third column of the table in the schedule, the associated provision comes into force for that purpose only.
The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 8 August 2024. Sections 26, 27 and 28 came into force on the following day.
