In accordance with section 22(2) of that Act, the Scottish Ministers consulted such persons (or representatives of such persons) as appeared to the Scottish Ministers likely to be affected by these Regulations and have laid a report before the Scottish Parliament.

Citation, commencement and effect

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police Pension Scheme (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2025.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 1 May 2025 but regulations 3 and 4 have effect from 1 April 2025.

Amendment of the Police Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2015

The Police Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2015[^f00002] are amended in accordance with regulations 3 and 4.

Eligibility for payment of ill-health benefits

Chapter 4 (eligibility for payment of ill-health benefits) of Part 4 (scheme membership) ceases to have effect from 1 April 2025.

Rate of member contributions

In regulation 160 (rate of member contributions)—

(a) In paragraph (2)—

(i) for “13.46%” substitute “13.7%”,

(ii) omit from “if” to the end,

(b) omit paragraphs (3) and (4).

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Police Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2015 (“the 2015 Regulations”).

Regulation 3 removes the ill-health eligibility restrictions set out in Chapter 4, Part 4 of the 2015 Regulations.

Regulation 4 amends the percentage rate of member contributions payable under regulation 160 of the 2015 Regulations and makes further amendments to that regulation consequential to the removal of ill-health eligibility restrictions.
