The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in pursuance of paragraph (c) of Schedule 2 to the Charities Act 1960, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

The universities and university college specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby declared to be exempt charities for the purposes of the Charities Act 1960.

This Order may be cited as the Exempt Charities Order 1965 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1965.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order declares the charities specified in the Schedule to be “exempt charities” within the meaning of the Charities Act 1960. Exempt charities are not required to be registered under that Act, and the powers of the Charity Commissioners under that Act cannot be exercised in relation to an exempt charity except at the request of the charity.
