Made: 12th November 1990

Coming into force: 12th November 1990

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5(5) and 5(6) of the Crown Agents Act 1979[^f00001] and now vested in him[^f00002] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Subject to article 3 below, the Crown Agents shall have power to carry on in their own right anywhere in the world any of the following activities:

The exercise of powers granted under articles 2(1)(c), (d) and (e) and 2(2)(a) and (b) of this Order shall be conditional upon the consent of the Secretary of State.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order enables Crown Agents to provide a range of services in their own right to the private sector which could previously only be provided to public bodies. In certain instances (which are the same as those specified in the Crown Agents Act 1979 in respect of a similar range of services to public bodies) the provision of these services is conditional upon the consent of the Secretary of State.
