Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations prescribe the manner in which a civil engineer may apply to be appointed or reappointed to an existing panel of civil engineers set up for the purposes of the Reservoirs Act 1975, and the fee to accompany such an application. There are currently four such panels—

Regulation 2(1) requires the application to be made in writing to the Secretary of State for the Environment, accompanied by the information set out in the Schedule and the prescribed fee. In the case of a first appointment, a reference from a civil engineer as to suitability is also required.

Regulation 2(2) increases the fee for a first appointment to any panel to £200, and the fee for reappointment to any panel to £160.

Regulation 3 revokes previous Regulations dealing with applications and fees in relation to appointments to existing panels of civil engineers.
