Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends Schedule 9A to the Government of Wales Act 2006 (c. 32) (“the 2006 Act”) and comes into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Article 2 amends Schedule 9A to the 2006 Act in consequence of the Tertiary Education and Research (Wales) Act 2022 (“*the 2022 Act*”). The 2022 Act abolishes the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and creates the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research.

Schedule 9A to the 2006 Act specifies the list of devolved Welsh authorities. This Order removes the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales from the list and inserts the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary, or public sector is foreseen.
