Council Tax (Additional Provisions for Discount Disregards) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2007

Coming into force: 1 April 2007

The National Assembly for Wales, makes the following Regulations, in exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by section 116(1) of, and paragraph 9 of Schedule 1 to the Local Government Finance Act 1992[^f00001] and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales so far as exercisable in relation to Wales[^f00002]:

Title, commencement, and application

• (1) The title of these Regulations is the Council Tax (Additional Provisions for Discount Disregards) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2007 and they come into force on 1 April 2007.

• (2) These Regulations apply in relation to Wales.

Care workers' weekly remuneration

In paragraph 1(c) of the Schedule to the Council Tax (Additional Provisions for Discount Disregards) Regulations 1992[^f00003] for “£36”[^f00004] substitute “£44”.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

The Council Tax (Additional Provisions for Discount Disregards) Regulations 1992 provide for the conditions to be fulfilled where a care worker is to be disregarded for the purposes of a discount, which has the effect of reducing the amount of council tax payable in respect of a dwelling in which the care worker is resident. One of those conditions is that the care worker is paid no more than a specified weekly amount. Regulation 2 of these Regulations raises this amount from £36 to £44.
