The Education Act 2002 (Commencement No. 13) (Wales) Order 2010

Made: 7 March 2010

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the power conferred upon the National Assembly for Wales by section 216(3), (4) and (5) of the Education Act 2002[^f00001] and now vested in them[^f00002], make the following Order:

Title and interpretation

The title of this Order is the Education Act 2002 (Commencement No. 13) (Wales) Order 2010.

In this Order, the “2002 Act” (“Deddf 2002”) means the Education Act 2002.

Appointed day

The following provisions of the 2002 Act come into force on 12 April 2010:

• (a) section 19(8) (governing bodies of maintained schools);

• (b) section 20(4) (instruments of government of governing bodies of maintained schools);

• (c) section 24 (federation of schools); and

• (d) section 25 (federations: supplementary provisions).

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 12 April 2010 provisions of the Education Act 2002 specified in article 3 of the Order. These are the provisions that relate to the federation of schools.
