(This note is not part of the Order)

This is the second commencement Order made by the Welsh Ministers under the Education (Wales) Measure 2009 (“the 2009 Measure”). The Order brings sections 21 and 22 of the 2009 Measure into force on 1 September 2011.

Section 21 of the 2009 Measure removes the references to the first key stage from Part 7 of the Education Act 2002 and also substitutes references to the foundation phase in Part 7 of the Education Act 2002 for references to the foundation stage.

Section 22 of the 2009 Measure makes minor amendments to sections 33F(1)(a) and 33N(1) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000.
