The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 150(5) and 156(2) of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011[^f00001], make the following Order:

The title of this Order is the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 (Commencement No.4) Order 2012.

Commencement

The following provisions of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 come into force on 1 April 2012—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order is made under sections 156(2) and 150(5) of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 and brings into force provisions of the Measure that abolish the Welsh Language Board and establish the office of Welsh Language Commissioner.

Provisions commenced by this Order will ensure the transfer of the Board’s functions under the Welsh Language Act 1993 to the Commissioner. This Order also commences provisions conferring additional powers upon the Commissioner including powers that will enable the Commissioner to undertake preparatory work necessary for the introduction of Welsh language standards.
