The Apprenticeships (Transitional Provision for Existing Vocational Specifications) (Wales) Order 2013

The Welsh Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 22 of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009[^f00001].

Title, commencement and application

• (1) The title of this Order is the Apprenticeships (Transitional Provision for Existing Vocational Specifications) (Wales) Order 2013 and it comes into force on 23 June 2013.

• (2) This Order applies in relation to Wales.

Interpretation

In this Order—

• “the Act” (“y Ddeddf”) means the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009;

• “ITQ” (“CTG”) means an Information Technology Qualification;

• “NVQ” (“CGC”) means a National Vocational Qualification;

• “QCF” (“FfCCh”) means the Qualfications and Credit Framework.

Transitional arrangements for existing vocational specifications

• (1) The existing vocational specifications specified in the first column of the Schedule are to be treated as if they were apprenticeship frameworks issued under section 19(1) of the Act.

• (2) The existing vocational specifications in the Schedule—

• (a) are to be treated as being issued under section 19(1) of the Act on 23 June 2013; and

• (b) are to be treated as being withdrawn under section 19(2) of the Act on 28 June 2013.

• (3) For each of the existing vocational specifications in the first column of the Schedule, the Schedule specifies—

• (a) in the second column, the qualification that the deemed framework is to be treated as identifying as the competencies qualification;

• (b) in the third column, the level that is to be treated as being stated in the deemed framework; and

• (c) in the fourth column, the apprenticeship sector that is to be treated as being stated in the deemed framework.
